WHAT EXACTLY IS ACADEMIC-ZONE™?
Academic-Zone™ delivers a variety of innovative online learning resources that engage students while increasing their understanding of fundamental skills including academic writing, numeracy, time management, and communication. The resources are a series of Flash modules that deliver content in an interactive way. Content is incorporated in the form of text, images, videos, and audio, and the modules contain various practice exercises and activities. For more information check out the “Online Demo.”

WHAT TYPE OF LEARNING MODULES DO YOU OFFER?
The suite of Academic-Zone™ modules is always expanding. We are continually developing new products as well as updating our existing ones. We currently offer two major categories of modules: writing and numeracy. There are numerous modules within each category including essay writing, basic grammar, algebra, and statistics. For more information on specific modules check out the “Products” tab at the top of the page.

There are many ways to go about finding more information on Academic-Zone™. To start, you’re in the right place! The Academic-Zone™ blog has tons of information on Academic-Zone™. Check out the tabs at the top of the page for a variety of useful information. Likewise, you can check out our main site www.academic-zone.com, which also has information on Academic-Zone™.  One of the best ways to find more information is through an exploration webinar where members of the Academic-Zone™ team demo the learning modules! More information about webinars can be found here.

HOW CAN I TELL IF ACADEMIC-ZONE IS RIGHT FOR MY INSTITUTION/STUDENTS?
Join us during an exploration webinar. During the webinar members of the Academic-Zone™ team will walk you through the resources showing you all the features and functionality.  Attendees are able to ask questions pertaining to all aspects of Academic-Zone™. We run presentations weekly and the webinars only take about one hour. Register for an upcoming webinar from the tabs at the top of the page or send us an email at academic-zone@brocku.ca with a time that would be convenient for you!

HOW MUCH DOES ACADEMIC-ZONE™ COST?

HOW DO I GAIN ACCESS TO ACADEMIC-ZONE™?
Academic-Zone™ caters to secondary and post-secondary educational institutions. Academic-Zone™ does not provide access to individual users. An institution has to purchase access to the Academic-Zone™ resources through a licence agreement.

HOW DOES AN INSTITUTION LICENCE WITH ACADEMIC-ZONE™?
In order to gain access to the Academic-Zone™ modules an institution has to purchase a license. Licence agreements are flexible, and we are willing to work with you to meet your needs. Once Academic-Zone™ has been purchased by an institution they are granted access. For more information on obtaining a licence please contact our sales representative at academic-zone@brocku.ca. 

MY INSTITUTION PURCHASED A LICENCE. HOW DO I ACCESS THE ACADEMIC-ZONE™ MODULES?
To access the modules, you must go to www.academic-zone.com and click on the green tab labelled “Login or Register Here”. If you are a first time user, click “New to Academic-Zone? Click Here to Register” and fill out the required information. Your institution/instructor will provide you with the appropriate access code. Upon completing registration a confirmation email will be sent to your email.

Sign in using your account information. Click on the “Courses” tab and select your course from the drop down box. Click the gray tab that says “Load” and you will access the module. 

DOES ACADEMIC-ZONE™ ASSESS STUDENT PERFORMANCE?
All Academic-Zone™ modules contain a corresponding set of two quizzes: A pre-quiz and a post-quiz. The pre- and post-quizzes contain multiple-choice questions based on the material in the module. This built-in assessment function allows instructors to track student use and learning outcomes. Pass/fail reports help instructors quickly identify at-risk students; detailed assessments, consisting of an overall score as well as a breakdown of student and group scores per skill area, can be used to identify strengths and weaknesses.
